Brief introduction
Hey guys, this is me, Omar aka DJ Attan. I was born in Kabul, but am originally from Kunar province of Gran Afghanistan. I have been living in Canada for about 6 years now; and at the moment, I got my diploma in web development and marketing. I also happen to be the co-founder of eAfghans Network, originally known as VirtualAfghans.com which was one of my test projects (out of boredom), now one of the largest and most visited Afghan website!
Not a lot of accomplishments in my life, however, I try my best to serve my dear countrymen, my beautiful and one and only Gran Afghanistan!
What is your favourite music genre?
The one and only: Afghan music. Especially Attan music. Let's just say I have driven a lot of people crazy around me for 'Attanifying their ears'! ;)
Who is your favourite Afghan artist/band?
This is the hardest question! However, I would say Ahmad Zahir, Farhad Darya, Daud Hanif, Baryalai Samadi, Wahid Qasimi and many more…
Who is your favourite non-Afghan artist/band?
Lucky Ali, Jagjit Singh, Kumar Sanu, Immortal Technique (underground hip hop), Bryan Adams (yep, corny love songs don't bother me) and Linking Park (Good hype music if you're stressed out)!
Are you a musician?
Nope!
Do you also compose/write/remix songs?
I try to remix songs; I don't think you wanna listen to em! =)
Who is the most influential artist/band for you?/ To which artists did you listen growing up?
I would say Farhad Darya with his Goreh Baraan was my favorit as a kid, thus I have been a big fan of Farhad Darya since then. Farhad Darya is one of the greatest treasures of Afghanistan alive; who helps out other famous artists such as Habib, Qader and so on!
Who is the most promising new Afghan artist for you?
Mamoon, no questions asked! Although this dude's not new, as he has been around for a while (they say even before Habib), but I think this guy's got a good voice, great talent in music, especially Ghazal and some cool Pukhto songs!
What is your mission in life?
To be a great son, brother, friend and a husband!
